Come baring gifts: cigars
You’re trying to woo a new client or potential new client. You want to stand out from the crowd of gift baskets full of coffee and mini muffins. Why not try a nice gift basket of cigars?
Or say you’ve finally gotten that big account out to an afternoon of golf, dinner, and drinks. You’re investing heavily in this account because you really want to make a big impact. You want to win all of their business in whatever service you are offering as a vendor. You have to be careful with how you woo them — don’t want to do anything illegal buy simply showering them with gifts — but if done correctly and tastefully it can work out well for you in the end.
So you’re enjoying drinks before dinner. Why not offer your target CEO a cigar?
Now you want to make sure you don’t offer an unacceptably poor brand of cigar. You’re trying to impress. A quality batch of cigars might do the trick. Or hand picking a group of the highest quality, legal imports you can find might works as well.
I don’t know much about cigars so I would need someone to show me which were the cheap, inappropriate brands and what is seen as acceptable. I want to give the Ferrari of cigars to my target client, not the beat up Pinto.
What about you, have you ever wooed a client with cigars?
